History Of National Tree Day
The mayor of Mondoedo, Spain, sponsored the world’s first recorded arbor plantation celebration around 1594. Eventually, in 1805, in the neighborhood of Villanueva de la Sierra, a pastor named Don Juan Abern Samtrés acknowledged the value of trees for wellbeing, tidiness, adornment, nature, atmosphere, and norms. To make Carnival Tuesday more cheerful, he opted to plant trees on what is now regarded as Arbor Day. The 3-day festival actually started with a Mass and stayed that way for three days.
