National Redhead Day 2023 – Sunday, November 5! The 5th of November is a very special day. Guess why- can’t or can you! Well, because it’s a day that celebrates the uniqueness of less than 2% of people who are natural-born redheads. Though it’s an amazing color one can be blessed with- some people treat redheads as the odd ones standing. What we are trying to imply is that sometimes redheads are bullied, shunned, and shamed for their unique qualities.
Fiery, Hot-tampered, witch, vampire’s progeny- etc. are some of the examples of such bullying. Redheads refuse to be defined by such baseless clichés and won’t let somebody else be the dictator of their own beauty or self-definition. Thus the invention of the day National Redhead Day. We have illustrated some interesting aspects regarding the day.
When is National Redhead Day 2023 USA?
Sunday, November 5 is the official celebration date of Happy National Redhead Day 2023 in the United States.
The History behind the National Redhead Day:
National Redhead Day is also known as Love Your Red Hair Day in the US and many other countries. Two American sisters were the mastermind behind the origin of this celebratory day. Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti came up with the idea to invent and celebrate such a holiday during the year 2011. They created this day as a response to the disturbing bullies of redheads. There was a website named ‘Kick a ginger day’- which basically posted staff that are downright derogatory and tick the bar of classic bullying by feature shaming.
Ginger stands for redheads in this case which is accepted as a derogatory term. The two sisters created a website titled ‘ How to be a redhead’ as a response to those sick people. The website later turned into the name- love your red hair day. The sister duo wanted all the redheads in the world to feel comfortable, content, proud, certain, and confident. Their website included blog posts with the #RockItLikeARedHead.
Thanks to their intention and dedication the website’s ideology got huge traction among redheads and the sisters were able to create events such as “Rock It Like A Red Head”. The sisters also went on to become brand ambassadors for renowned brands like- LO’real Paris. In fact, their continuous fame inspired them to write a book called ‘How to be a redhead’ in 2016 and it became an instant hit- all thanks to the energized redheads.
