History Of International Childfree Day

The concept of children carrying on kinship ties is as old as humanity. It is one of the characteristics that has contributed to our status as the superlative species on Earth. We pass on to our kids our DNA, blood, flesh, insight, experience, thoughts and feelings, and a lot more. Through this rapport, our society has evolved in size and power, and family ties have emerged as a crucial part of everyone’s life. Each religious ideology and culture around the globe emphasize the value of marriage and having children. Several people even consider individuals who do not have children to be inferior.

Throughout August 1973, the National Organization for Non-Parents, also known as NON, which was eventually renamed the National Alliance for Optional Parenthood, or NAOP, formed and celebrated the first Non-Parents Day. Laura Carroll, a reputed author, and professional on the childfree lifestyle, resurrected the initiative in 2013 and was crucial in helping it to obtain annual acknowledgment. The declaration of the 2024 Childfree Person and Group of the Year will start taking place on August 1.

Raising a family and producing kids is a human characteristic and a rationale for the fast growth of human civilization; nevertheless, the human population has blown out of control, and we can observe a population explosion in countries like India, which is expected to evolve into the most crowded nation in the globe by 2030, with a population estimate of 1.47 billion. The figures are terrifying, and satisfying the requirements of every living thing on the planet places an enormous strain on the planet. We realize that the world’s resources can regrow every year, but excessive consumption of resources leads to circumstances like overshoot.

How To Celebrate International Childfree Day 2024?

  1. Send A Note of Encouragement

One of the most amazing ways to celebrate International Childless Day would be to express your appreciation to a couple who are childless by showing it’s ok to decide not to have children and why their decision actually has legit grounds. This would give them a sense of belonging instead of being shunned as done by many ignorant people!

  1. Launch A Social Media Campaign

Create a social media campaign emphasizing the benefits of living without children. Discuss and commend the accomplishments of folks who do not have children as part of your campaign. Don’t forget to put the hashtag of #InternationalChildfreeDay though!

  1. Give to A Childless Couple

Make a list of the childless couples in your area. Select the best-performing couple in terms of their financial stability, family decency, and career choice, and give them a nice gift.

  1. Nominate A Childless Parent.

A Childfree Woman and Man of the Year are chosen to commemorate this day, and anyone who wants to participate can nominate someone for this honor. The specifics of how to accomplish this are available on the official website, and a judging committee selects a male and female winner from among the shortlisted applicants. These are declared on the exact same day, and the chosen men and women receive a few prize packs in recognition of their achievements. On August 1st, you can designate a Childfree parent for this event and rejoice by hash-tagging #InternationalChildFreeDay.

Why International Childfree Day Is Important

The day honors married people who have drawn criticism, ridicule, and disapproval since they chose to be childless. It also plays a pivotal role in assisting childless couples in tackling social and cultural prejudices. The couple’s choice to have a child is a private one, and nobody should compel them to create it. It is also society’s responsibility to acknowledge the necessity of childless couples.

People in the modern world have self-doubt concerning fostering their children, and having multiple kids can be a significantly costlier approach to raising them, whilst women in the entertainment industry don’t have children because it’s essential for them to be fit. A couple may decide not to have kids for a wide variety of reasons, consequently, it is society’s obligation to recognize the viewpoints and situations of childfree couples and not to distinguish against them for doing so.
