Anzac Day 2022: Date, History, Theme, Significance, Facts, Celebration Ideas, Wishes, Quotes, Images, Pic! Anzac Day is a commemoration day for the people of Australia and New Zealand. It remembers the historical moment when Australian and New Zealand forces made their landing at Gallipoli of Turkey at the time of the First World War and the sacrifices they made during 1915.

The day was made official on 25th April of 1916 as a celebratory day. Though the initial purpose behind celebrating the day was to honor the fallen soldiers in the battle later the theme was changed to celebrate all sorts of the war heroes from New Zealand & Australia whether they existed in the past or exist in present.

What does ‘Anzac’ mean?

Anzac is the abbreviated version for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Forces of Australia and New Zealand got this nickname as a gift for their valuable contribution during the First World War and the soldiers of both countries take mighty pride still today and thus the legacy!

When is Anzac Day 2022 Australia and New Zealand?

Monday, April 25 is the official celebration date of Happy National Anzac Day 2022 in Australia and New Zealand.

History of Anzac Day

During the First World War, a coalition among Australian and New Zealand Soldiers were formed for capturing the Gallipoli peninsula. Back then, it was the capital of the Ottoman Empire, which these days are known as Istanbul. The joint force landed on Gallipoli on 25th April but had to face extreme resistance from the Turkish defenders.

The assault continued for 8 months and both parties had to suffer great losses as many soldiers died and got injured during the period. To take pride in their brave contribution during the war and reflect plus celebrate their achievement, both the countries celebrate Anzac Day for their fallen but brave heroes. It got its official label during the year 1916.

How to Celebrate Anzac Day 2022?

The traditional celebration goes like this-

  1. Commemorative services in the morning which is mimicry the troops landing in Gallipoli. As most of the attacks happened in the morning.
  2. Marches in the war memorial get held by the former and current servicemen of both the country.
  3. National Ceremony gets held in the war memorial including activities such as hymns, maintaining one minute’s silence, laying wreaths, etc. The national anthem of the respective countries gets played in the background.
  4. Many also celebrate the day by eating biscuits made from flour, syrup, oats, butter, and boiling water. As wives of the soldiers used to send biscuits to their husbands who were fighting in the war.
  5. Since Coronavirus took the world by storm, this year’s celebration will be mostly online.
  6. People can pay homage to their war heroes as a way to celebrate Anzac day if they feel like participating.

Why does Anzac Day Deserve to be Celebrated?

This day is not only just a celebration but is a national memory among all we live here, it’s the day two nations became one to gain victory, hence celebrate this Anzac Day with pride and joy

ANZAC, it’s not just a name, it’s a symbol of bravery, a symbol of the alliance, a symbol of brotherhood, a symbol of victory, hence let us all celebrate this Anzac Day in a symbolic way

Have a feast and join the marches, decorate those red poppies beside the wall heroes to pay tribute to our fallen heroes, and celebrate this Anzac Day
